Lady Purples dominate the Field

Bowling Green High School’s girls’ soccer team has had a very solid start to a highly anticipated season. The girls’ team this year consists predominantly of younger members, with only three seniors this year alongside four freshman, eight sophomores and six juniors. For a team filled with more underclassmen, their past games have seen great success.

Junior Riley Thompson said, “We had some of our main players graduate last year, so it was a big transition working as a team. But as we got started, we all connected really well to move on and off the ball.”

Thompson also said, “We are all friends off the field, which helps us play better on the field because we know we can trust each other.”

The girls team is not going to let anything get in the way of this year’s season, and they strive to play up to the standard of their stellar performance in the previous season.

The team's record is seven wins, two ties, and two losses. The team has played two teams in the city of Bowling Green, one being Warren East High School (WEHS) and the other being South Warren High School (SWHS). On August 14th, the Purples matched up against the Warren East Raiders for the first game of the Purples season. Bowling Green mercy ruled the Raiders with a score of 10-0.

The girls’ August 23rd game against the South Warren Spartans was a narrower win, with Bowling Green scoring six goals versus South Warren’s three. Not only was the match close, but it marked a victory against one of the Purples’ biggest rivals for the past few years.
