Romy Cramer showcases talent on Youtube

Due to her father having a heart transplant in Vanderbilt, Romy Cramer came to Bowling Green High School from Commerce, Texas in her junior year not knowing what to expect. Because of her apparent quiet demeanor, few people in Bowling Green know about her musical YouTube personality, RomyKay.

Romy’s YouTube channel, RomyKay, currently has 155 subscribers. Where many YouTube singers only make covers of songs written by other people, Romy enjoys writing her own lyrics and notes along with playing her own accompaniment with the song, usually on piano or ukulele. Some of her original songs include “I Know,” “A Face that I Can’t See,” “Maybe,” and “Back in Time”. Along with her written songs, she has also covered songs by Taylor Swift, Tyler the Creator, CYN, and many others.

“Freshman year, around Christmas time, I started doing little covers, and I learned how to play the ukulele, and I just kept doing it,” said Romy. She has participated in a few talent events back in Texas and often performed at a local coffee shop downtown. People in town quickly grew to love her voice and talent.

“Freshman year in the town that I lived in, there was Commerce Idol, which was a talent show,” said Romy. “I did a ukulele cover, and I won first in the age division.” It took her quite a while to learn how to play the ukulele with ease, but it has paid off through her growing subscriber count and blossoming love for music.
