After a rough spring season, the Bowling Green girls’ lacrosse team has seen improvement during their training season, also known as ‘fall ball.’ The Lady Purples had a win-tie-loss record of 2-1-1 by the end of the season, including a 10-4 win against the Henry Clay Blue Devils. Since it’s the third year of being an actual team, Coach Wolf is determined to show everyone what the girls are truly made of.
Junior Emma Claire Kidwell said, “Last season, we had a lot more games; this season, several teams backed out, including South Warren. We also had a lot of new girls this fall, so I was a little nervous at first, but they’re catching on very fast, and they’re good contributors to our team.”
As for the Bowling Green boys’ lacrosse team, they look to improve on a passable spring season for fall ball. They picked up a win in their first game, beating Clarksville 16-4. After losing 9 seniors, the team will be determined to regain the strength that they’ve lost. As the boys have began training for the spring season as they’re practicing twice a week and adding 7 new players to the team they’re focused on the upcoming spring season and are looking to improve the squad as a whole.
Junior Gabe Wiles said, “We have a lot of new, young guys that are going to have to step up, but I’m excited for the season with our new coaches.”
Both the girls and the boys teams will look to capitalize on lacrosse’s growing popularity. Between these two teams and the youth teams around the city, Purples fans can expect to add lacrosse the pantheon of athletic successes at BGHS.
