The time has come, rivalry is in the air. South Warren and Bowling Green have always had a strong rivalry, but in the recent years, things have gotten heated between the two schools in sports particularly in football. The two top teams in the district will face each other at South Warren High School on Friday, October 18th. The rivalry is very strong because both teams, win or lose, are very talented and put on a great show every time they play. SWHS record is 8-0, while BGHS record is 7-1.
Even though BGHS has a loss compared SWHS undefeated record, BGHS has had a more difficult schedule which gives their loss a little bit of acceptance being that they lost to the #1 ranked team in the midwest. This gives BGHS motivation to bounce back after the bad loss, the team is unfazed and ready to win. No matter the outcome of the game, it’s for a good cause, being the “Playing for Mason” football game, which has a much deeper meaning than a win or loss on a school’s record. The tensions are high and everyone is waiting to see the result of the matchup.
